The Kensington and Chelsea Forum
for Older Residents

The independent forum for the older residents of the Royal Borough

Stragetic Objectives

The population of Kensington and Chelsea is 167,579 of which 45,263 are aged over 50. More than 11,000 pensioners live alone, many feel isolated. The Kensington and Chelsea Forum for Older Residents seeks higher standards of housing, health, social care, transport, leisure facilities, safety and community services for older residents of the Royal Borough.

The Forum is affiliated to the Greater London Forum for Older People, the umbrella body for older people's Forums in all 32 London boroughs and the City of London.

We work in partnership with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and NHS Kensington and Chelsea on the Older Citizens Shaping the Future Project.

Our aims are to:

  • Tackle social isolation
  • Ensure that older people have an active voice in stating their needs and concerns on local and national issues
  • Positively combat age discrimination
  • Campaign and lobby on local issues to include health and social services, local transport, care in the community, education and leisure activities
  • Promote and involve the Forum with policies that benefit older residents
  • Acknowledge older people's valuable contributions to society and to treat them with the respect and dignity they deserve
  • Champion the causes of older people and create an environment where older people can influence decisions that affect their lives
