Message in a Bottle
A LIFE-SAVING SCHEME RE-LAUNCHED BY THE KENSINGTON AND CHELSEA OVER 50s FORUM in 2017
The Message In a Bottle scheme is a simple idea designed to encourage people to keep their personal and medical details on a standard form and in a common location - the fridge.
Whilst it is focused on the more vulnerable people in our community, anyone can have an accident or need urgent care at home, so this scheme can benefit all ages.
It will save the Emergency Services valuable time identifying the patient and any emergency contacts. It is a potential lifesaver and provides peace of mind for users and their friends and families.
This scheme is free for the user
Here's how it works:
• Step 1 - get the pack from your local chemist or surgery. Complete the medical form which you find in the pack and put it into the bottle.
• Step 2 - place the bottle in the fridge.
• Step 3 - place one green sticker that came with your pack on the inside of your front door.
• Step 4 - place the other sticker on the outside of your fridge door.
The emergency services are aware of the scheme and will look for the stickers on your front door and fridge and use the information you placed on the medical form. This includes your medication, your medical conditions and other information such as if you have any pets.
The Kensington and Chelsea Over 50s Forum has re-launched the scheme and has supplied 42 independent pharmacies in the Borough as well as Boots and 24 surgeries under My Care My Way
